What Is A Gold Angel?
First minted in 1465 during the reign of King Edward IV, the gold Angel takes its name from their image of the Archangel Michael. In the past, these coins were distributed by English monarchs as a cure for the 'king's evil'.
New Angel Design For 2026
The reverse of these 2026 coins displays Sandra Deiana's interpretation of the traditional Angel design, with the winged Archangel framed by the inscription 'PER CRUCEM TUAM SALVA NOS CHRISTE REDEMPTOR'.
Portrait Of King Charles III
The obverse features Martin Jennings' definitive uncrowned coinage portrait of King Charles III, introduced in 2022. The abbreviated Latin inscription on this £5 coin reads 'CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 5 POUNDS · 2026 ·'.
Brilliant Uncirculated Coin
Brilliant uncirculated coins are designed for collectors and struck to a superior standard than similar circulating counterparts. These Five Pound coins are made from cupronickel and have a milled edge.
