This 2013 set includes coins featuring the national flowers of England and Wales: England, represented by a rose and an oak branch, complete with an acorn, and Wales, represented by a leek and a daffodil. These collectable £1 coins were released as part of a four-piece set with two further coins representing Northern Ireland and Scotland, issued in 2014. All the designs in this collection are the work of celebrated heraldic artist Timothy Noad. The Floral Emblems series celebrates the constituent nations of the United Kingdom with designs centred on their national flowers and plants, all designed by noted heraldic artist Timothy Noad and released in 2013 and 2014.
Both of the coins in this set display Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, along with an inscription that reads 'ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG · F · D · 2013 ·'.
Published records confirm that just 6,112 of these two-coin sets were issued by The Royal Mint in 2013, which is a fairly low mintage for a brilliant uncirculated collector's coin. These BU pieces were only issued in sets, not individually.
