2018 First World War Armistice £2 Silver Proof

2018 First World War Armistice £2 Silver Proof Boxed
To honour the 100th Anniversary of the First World War, The Royal Mint released the 2018 First World War Armistice £2 Silver Proof in collaboration with IWM. The reverse of this coin features an emotive design by renowned textual artist Stephen Raw. At the centre of his engraving are the words ‘The truth untold, the pity of war’. These words are taken from a poem called ‘Strange Meeting’ by Wilfred Owen, one of the most famous solider poets. Raw took inspiration for this design from the Sambre-Oise Canal where Owen lost his life in 1918. This coin is one of a limited presentation of 5,000 coins, struck in 12.00 grams of .925 Sterling Silver with a gold plated outer rim. This Two Pound coin is offered in its original packaging from The Royal Mint with its numbered certificate of authenticity.
