The Royal Australian Mint's 2009 Silver Kangaroo coin. This year's edition by Ken Done takes an Aboriginal approach to its reverse design, reminiscent of the designs from 2001 - 2003. While much of the face is frosted, the line art style, including the large sun above, is given a shiny, mirror-like finish. On the obverse lies the portrait of Elizabeth II as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. 2009's Silver Kangaroo entry takes after its predecessors in being minted in one troy ounce of silver in its .999 purity construction. This one-year-only design is finished to the uncirculated bullion standard. This 2009 Australian Kangaroo bullion coin is pre-owned and will be supplied in protective packaging at no extra cost.

2009 Silver Kangaroo Obverse 

The obverse of the 2009 Silver Kangaroo features the bust of Elizabeth II, who then served as the constitutional monarch of Australia. The legend accompanying Ian Rank-Broadley's work reads 'ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2009'.

Reverse: 2009 Australian Kangaroo Coin  

Ken Done's approach to designing the reverse of 2009's unique Kangaroo coin leans on Aboriginal art. The bounding kangaroo is pictured below the Aussie sun, which splits the inscription 'ONE DOLLAR'. Below the roo's tail is inscribed 'ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER'.

2009 Silver Kangaroo Specification 

Struck in Australian .999 silver, the 2009 Kangaroo coin is minted with a full troy ounce of silver. The Royal Australian Mint struck the collectable 2009 Silver Kangaroo to a 40.00 millimetre diameter and to their impressive uncirculated bullion standard. As with most other examples, the field of each side is predominantly frosted.
