1972 UK Proof Annual 7 Coin Set

1972 Annual Set Proof Silver Wedding Boxed

Buy a 1972 UK Proof Annual 7 Coin Set

Limited edition UK proof annual set for the year 1972, featuring seven Royal Mint base metal coins. In 1972 Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Phillip celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. To celebrate this royal milestone, The Royal Mint issued a commemorative coin: the first UK decimal Crown with a face value of 25p. This coin featured a reverse designed by Arnold Machin showing the crowned royal cypher with a tiny cherub at the centre surrounded by a floral garland. The anniversary dates feature in the legend. Also included in this set are proof editions of circulating coins issued for the year 1972. Proof coins have a finer finish than the coins you’ll find in your change, achieved with multiple strikes of hand finished dies. This set includes a proof decimal Fifty Pence piece, Ten Pence piece, Five Pence piece, Two Pence piece, One Pence piece and a Halfpenny, all dated 1972 in addition to the Crown. All feature Arnold Machin’s portrait of Her Majesty the Queen to the obverse. Presented in a black card envelope with embossed decorative metallic lettering, the coins in this set are sealed in a double sided plastic sleeve, meaning you can view obverse and reverse without handling the individual pieces. Please be aware that some toning may be apparent on these older proof sets.
