Buy a 1595-1598 Elizabeth I Hammered Silver Shilling MM Key

A collectable hammered silver Shilling of Queen Elizabeth the First with a Key mint mark to both sides, indicating that this coin was struck between the years 1595 and 1598 at the tower mint of London. From Elizabeth I’s 6th coin issue (1582 to 1600). The obverse features the crowned bust type 6B of the queen facing left, within a beaded circle and without a rose behind. The reverse shows a fourchee long cross, quartering a shield of royal arms with the terminals extending into the legend. This Shilling dates from what is sometimes called Elizabeth’s ‘second reign’ which was coloured by economic and political uncertainty but also a remarkable outpouring of great literary works. Spink 2577.
