Buy a 1528 Francis I Gold Hammered Écu D’or du Dauphine France

A collectable gold Ecu D’or du Dauphine, issued during the reign of Francis the First of France. Second type, struck at the mint of Grenoble in around 1528. The obverse features a quartered circle with three lis in two quarters and two dolphins in the other two. A small sun appears above on the beaded ring that encircles the central design. The reverse shows an ornate cross with lis terminals. Two crowned ‘F’s appear in the angles for Francis or François I. A Pansy mint mark can be seen on both sides. This collectable French hammered gold coin is a nice addition to any collection and - in our opinion - currently undervalued in the market place.
