The Royal Air Force was formed in April 1918. To mark their centenary year, The Royal Mint released the 2018 RAF Centenary Badge £2 Silver Proof as part of a special RAF collection. This commemorative coin bears Jody Clark’s portrait of Elizabeth II on the obverse. On the reverse - designed by Rhys Morgan - the crowned eagle badge of the Royal Air Force appears, complete with the services motto: ‘PER ARDVA AD ASTRA’ (which translates to ‘through adversity the stars’). This proof coin is from a limited edition presentation of 7,500 and is struck in 12.00 grams of .925 Sterling Silver. Reverse

Designed by Rhys Morgan. The badge of the Royal Air Force in the centre; an eagle superimposed on a circlet which is surmounted by a crown. On the circlet, the motto 'PER ARDVA AD ASTRA'. Edge inscription: 'THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE 1918-2018'.

12.00 grams of .925 Sterling Silver. Diameter of 28.40 millimetres. Struck to proof standard.
