The reverse of the 1826 Crown shows a shield of royal arms, surmounted by a crown and garnished with a scroll at the bottom, which reads 'DIEU ET MON DROIT' with 'BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:' around. This design is attributed to Jean Baptiste Merlen.

1826 George IV 11-Coin Proof Sets
This proof Crown would have been included in a prestigious eleven-coin proof set featuring four gold coins, four silver coins, and four copper coins. Reported mintage figures for this set vary from 150 to 400, but it is known to be very scarce and hard to obtain in its complete form.
High-Grade Proof 1826 Crown Coin
This example has been graded PF 64 by NGC and is offered sealed in its holder, bearing the certification number 6674688-001. The label bears an 'Ex. Norweb' notation. The coin features a dark but attractive tone with plenty of colour when turned to the light.
What Is The Norweb Collection?
The vast Norweb Collection was assembled by R Henry Norweb Sr (1894–1983) and his wife Emery May Holden (1895–1984). The Norweb name is associated with exemplary specimens from various periods and places, including English coins and tokens from the 17th century and the early medieval period, colonial and federal United States coins, and Canadian medals and tokens. Many of the Norweb's coins and tokens were donated to national museums in the 1980s and 1990s, including the British Museum and the Smithsonian. Records were set when the remainder of the collection came to auction with the Norweb pedigree still proving sought-after today.
