Mint state NGC graded silver Crown, dated 1818. Struck late in the reign of King George III, this desirable early 19th-century British coin displays the regnal year to the edge in Roman numerals: 'LVIII' (58). The obverse features the large laureate bust of the King, facing right with the date below. This is the work of Italian engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, who also designed the famous image of Saint George on horseback slaying a dragon, encircled by a stylised garter that is shown on the reverse. This is one of the most recognisable motifs in British numismatics, more commonly associated with the gold Sovereigns. This stunning NGC-graded coin is offered sealed in its protective holder.
