1707 Queen Anne Act of Union Bronze Medal

1707 Anne Act of Union Bronze Medal Obverse

* Images are of the actual product not stock images

Bronze medal made to celebrate the 1707 Act of Union that joined the states and legislatures of Scotland and England into the United Kingdom of Great Britain. The obverse bears a crowned bust of Queen Anne, with elaborate dress and jewels in her hair. The reverse shows a crowned garter containing the arms of Great Britain on a pedestal, guarded by the lion of England and the unicorn of Scotland. The unicorn holds a Union Jack shield while the lion’s shield shows a rose and a thistle. Both sides are the work of John Croker, sometimes rendered in Latin as Iohann Croker which explains the ‘· I · C · ‘ initials found below the effigy. Croker was Chief Engraver to the Royal Mint at the time this medal was struck. This bronze medal is one of at least two designs produced by Croker to mark the 1707 Union.
