1649-60 Commonwealth Hammered Silver Halfgroat

1649-60 Commonwealth Hammered Silver Halfgroat Reverse

* Images are of the actual product not stock images

A collectable hammered silver Halfgroat of the Commonwealth period 1649 to 1660 featuring a somewhat simplistic design of shield of St Georges cross and interlinked shields St George and Ireland with the harp. This fascinating period of English history after the end of the English civil war and the execution of King Charles the First, the country was in effect governed as a Republic state under the lead of Oliver Cromwell and then later Richard Cromwell before the restoration of the crown in 1660.
