Hammered silver Commonwealth (1649-1660) Halfpenny. Obverse: English shield of arms, cross with crosshatching detail. Beaded border. Reverse: shield with Irish harp, enclosed within beaded border. This simple design was used for all silver Halfpennies minted between 1649 and 1660. This example weighs just 0.24 grams and has a diameter of 13.2 millimetres. Grade: GEF - Attractive mid grey tone on a good circular flan with strong details, close to as struck for good Very Fine. S 3223, ESC 230.
