Buy a 1582 Elizabeth I Hammered Silver Sixpence MM Bell

from
£165.00
A hammered silver Sixpence from the inaugural year of Queen Elizabeth the First’s scarce sixth issue of coinage (1582 to 1600). The Bell mint mark was only used in 1582 and 1583 and tells us that this coin was struck at the Tower mint in London. The obverse features a crowned bust of Elizabeth I, facing left with a Tudor rose behind. The reverse shows a long cross, quartering a shield of royal arms with the date (1582) above. The Virgin Queen’s coinage is popular with collectors because of the large number of denominations, issues and mint marks. This coin would make a nice addition to any Elizabethan collection. Spink 2578.
