A hammered silver Halfgroat of king Edward the Third from the fourth coinage issue, Pre-treaty period struck at the tower mint in London between the years 1327 and 1377. This coin known as a mule which means a die of one class has been used with a die of another class. Here we have the obverse featuring the facing portrait of the king and the mint mark of ‘Crown’ of series F, the reverse shows the long cross with the three pellets in each quarter, the wording for London mint and the mint mark of ‘Cross 3’ of series G.
