Buy a 1279-1284 Irish Edward I Hammered Silver Penny Dublin Mint

from
£122.00
An Irish hammered silver Penny of Edward the First, struck in Dublin between the years 1280 and 1283 of the king’s second issue after the recoinage of 1280. The obverse features a forward-facing crowned bust of Edward I with a trefoil of pellets below (though only one is clearly visible), all within a beaded triangle. This is a distinctive and easily recognisable design, common to Irish hammered pennies. The reverse shows the standard long cross with three pellets in the four quarters, along with the wording for the mint of Dublin. A Roman style ‘N’ helps date this piece. This coin has good eye appeal and would make an excellent addition to any numismatic collection. Seaby 6247 - Ib.
