1173-1187 Raymond III Silver Denier Tripoli Crusader States

1173-1187 Raymond III Silver Denier Tripoli Crusader States Obverse

* Images are of the actual product not stock images

A rare and collectable silver billon Denier minted at Tripoli between the years 1173 to 1187 under Raymond the Third. The reverse features an eight-pointed star with annulets in the angles, and the wording for the county of Tripoli, the obverse shows a simplistic design featuring a cross pattée within a circle. Raymond III was among the most important figures in the Crusader states, ruling as Count of Tripoli from 1152 to his death in 1187. This very rare coin in good condition for copper of this age and would make a nice numismatic and historical addition to any collection.
