This 1/10 ounce Australian Nugget Gold Bullion coin from The Perth Mint is the perfect addition to your coin collection. This official gold bullion of Australia was first minted in 1986 by The Perth Mint. The reverse is a design by Aleysha Howarth, capturing the emblem of Australia, the kangaroo. The kangaroo is synonymous with Australian culture featuring on; Qantas airline, sports teams, companies and the Australian Coat of Arms. The marsupial is often nicknamed ‘Skippy’ thanks to a popular 1960s childrens’ cartoon. The coin’s obverse presents the 5th Portrait of Her Majesty the Queen II, by Jody Clark. This bullion coin emanates the Australian freespirit.

The Perth Mint was founded in 1899 following the discovery of rich gold deposits in Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie. The Mint was Australia's third branch of The UK’s Royal Mint. The other two Mint branches were Sydney and Melbourne, now both closed. Sir John Forrest is considered to be the founding father of The Perth Mint after persuading The Royal Mint to establish a branch in Perth. The Perth Mint ceased to be owned by Britain in 1970 and in 1987, the now independent Mint launched its Australian Nugget Gold Coin series.
