1994 Bank Of England Gold Proof Double Sovereign Two Pound Elizabeth II Coin

Third Definitive Portrait Of Elizabeth II
Raphael Maklouf's elegant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of this 1994 collectors coin, with the words 'TWO POUNDS' below and 'ELIZABETH · II · DEI · GRATIA · REGINA · F · D ·' around.
300th Anniversary Of The Bank Of England
The reverse of this Double Sovereign does not feature the standard Saint George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci but rather a one-off motif by silversmith Leslie Durbin. The crowned cypher of King William III and Queen Mary II is shown above, with the image of Britannia below, inspired by the original Bank of England seal. The anniversary dates (1694-1994) appear on either side, with 'Bank of England' at the bottom.
1994 Gold Proof Double Sovereign
This is a 15.98 gram 22-carat gold coin, denominated at Two Pounds. Similar commemorative £2 coins were also struck in base metal. This Bank of England coin also featured in 1994 proof Sovereign sets.
Limited Edition Premium Royal Mint Coin
