Buy a 1775 Guinea

A collectable gold full Guinea of King George the Third, dated 1775. The obverse features the fourth type laureate head of the George III, facing right. This portrait is identifiable by the upturned ends of the King’s hair tie and the ringlets that curl over both of his shoulders. The reverse shows an ornate crowned quartered shield of arms, bearing the arms of England and Scotland (united since 1707), France, Hanover and Ireland. George III was the third British monarch of the House of Hanover. This type of Guinea reverse was introduced during his father George II’s reign to discourage Shillings from being gilded to pass as Guineas. In 1775, George III had been on the throne for 15 years and would reign another 45.
