Buy a 1739 George II Gold Guinea Georgius

A collectable gold full Guinea of King George the Second, dated 1739. The obverse features the intermediate type laureate head of the George II, facing left. This portrait is distinguished from the young head by locks of hair that appear on the King’s right shoulder and extending in front of his neck from his left. Notable on this obverse is the use of a ‘U’ in ‘GEORGIUS’, rather than ‘GEORGIVS’ as used in earlier and later issues. The reverse shows an ornate crowned quartered shield of arms, bearing the arms of England and Scotland (united since 1707), France, Hanover and Ireland. George II was the second British monarch of the House of Hanover. This type of Guinea reverse was introduced during his reign to discourage Shillings from being gilded to pass as Guineas. Chevron or arrowhead milled edge: distinct from earlier diagonal milling in use prior to 1739.
Grade: Grade: EF - Good bold details with a few very minor scuffs and nicks synonymous with being in the ground. Otherwise Extremely Fine details
